About the Shared Histories category

Discovering how distinct nations and cultures have experienced history through events, systems, and ideas.

This category is designed for discussions about past events, ideologies, and other historical developments, especially that which is done comparatively with unique intercultural lenses. Users are invited to investigate patterns and determine how our past has shaped the world in part or in whole.

While Cultural Memory focuses on the relevance of the past today, Shared Histories is focused on history for its own sake. That is, the events, causes, and forces that shaped civilizations in the past. It also includes discussion of historical documents, books, and media.

We discuss historical trends, notable historical events or figures, and the differences — or parallels — in historical development between nations. Documentaries, texts, and analyses are all welcome.

This category is critical to Interlocut’s emphasis on history.
