Interlocut – Terms of Use

Last updated: May 13, 2025

Interlocut™ is a curated, international forum for intentional, comparative dialogue about political history, civic identity, and cross-cultural understanding. It is designed as a quieter space relative to fast-paced platforms, emphasizing context over reaction and curiosity over confrontation. By using this forum, you agree to the following terms.

1. Community Conduct

You must be at least 16 years old to participate.

You agree to contribute in good faith and engage respectfully.

Hate speech, harassment, spam, impersonation, and illegal activity are not allowed.

Moderators may remove or restrict content or accounts that endanger the tone or integrity of the forum.

2. Account & Content

You may register directly, or log in using Discord or Google. If you choose to log in using a third-party provider, we collect limited profile data (such as username, email address, and user ID) to authenticate your account and manage forum access. We do not access your private messages, activity on those platforms, or any additional personal data beyond what is necessary for authentication.

We require a valid email address and username, and may log your IP address when you post or sign in.

You retain ownership of your posts. By posting, you grant Interlocut permission to display and archive your content within the forum context.

You may request account closure at any time via admin@interlocut.org. Requests for full data deletion will be considered in good faith, especially where privacy is at stake.

3. File Uploads & Messaging

Users may upload images or attachments through the forum’s built-in media handling system.

Private messaging between users is permitted. Messages are not publicly visible; moderator access to them depends on system permissions and abuse reports.

4. Donations

Interlocut does not currently accept any donations or financial contributions of any kind. We do not solicit, request, or expect such support from our users.

In the event that we decide to explore donation options in the future to help sustain the platform by covering basic server and maintenance costs, any such change will be communicated clearly. Should that happen, contributions will be entirely voluntary and offered without pressure, and would never involve paywalled content, perks, or donor status.

For now, there is no donation system in place.

5. Responsibility & Liability

Interlocut is a curated space with selective membership intended to preserve quality and focus. While we strive to create a safe and meaningful environment, users participate at their own discretion.

Interlocut is a user-driven space. Views expressed are those of individual users and not the forum as a whole. While we moderate for tone and safety, we are not responsible for the accuracy, legality, or consequences of what users post.

This site is provided “as is”, with no guarantees of uptime, accuracy, or security. You use the forum at your own risk. We assume no liability for any harm arising from participation or content.

6. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or remove accounts that violate these terms or harm the forum’s mission.

Users under 16 are not permitted and may be removed if discovered.

7. Jurisdiction

Interlocut is hosted in the United States and governed under U.S. law.
